+ Great design, HD picture is superb from Sky HD or HD DVD
- Banding issues with the first screen, this is a replacement, lots of banding on the 46XD1E in general, lucky if you get a good one, my replacement has very slight banding, much better than the original which was very poor, in general a very good telly if you get a good one.

+ good picture, stylish design
- the teletext locks up, on sub page. We are currently looking for a replacement before we return the TV. We have informed Sharp but have had no response.

+ Image resolution even for a 1080P is good, the TFT build quality is also good. Once most of the DSP options are turn off (as you need to do)the lack of MPEG artifacts displayed is impressive. The picture is propably the cleanest image for an LCD i have seen and thats via the low bit rate DTV in SD and HD not just viewing from DVD ,the lack of posterization and aliasing is good.Contrast ratio is high for an LCD and chroma balance is neutral. The black levels are almost Comparable to a CRT display.Great alternative to the SONY BRAVIA range and much cheaper!! Sharp have been making TFTs longer than most. They have or should have got over their lower end of the market reputation with this range of displays. They were also being widely used at a broadcast trade show i just returned from called IBC as a display tool.Sound quality is ok,but the whole experinace does need external 5.1.
- Had an issue with a pixel level changing its value and making a colour permanatly purple,i think this was a diagnostic feature for displaying illegal pixels for gamut levels tests at the factory, not sure though, anyway this was sorted out by accessing internal menus via the R/C.

+ There are a good selection of inputs and a very good picture quality especially for the price. It is also a nice looking piece of furniture.
- The viewing modes (action, etc.) do have to be switched to get the right quality for fast moving items and waves. This is the only reason I didn't give it a 10 but in my opinion the picture is very good. Selecting the source requires selecting from an on-screen menu, this is a minor gripe as you tend to want to toggle between a few main sources by a single button press. Not a big deal though.

+ Stunning picture, good sound at low/mid volume levels, good range of connection options
- You have to be lucky to get a good set, because many suffer from noticeable banding. Some retailers are good about swapping sets suffering from banding, but some retailers are not.

+ Picture quality when linked to HD. Not only are the HD channels superb but also a significant improvement occurred to the non-HD channels when connected to a SKY HD box. Very easy to set-up.
- Some channels were 'washy' before connected to a HD box. However this may have been linked to our satellite which was re-tuned when HD box was connected.

+ Excellent picture overall. DVD playback on regular DVDs is awesome, with great upscaling from the TV.
- Some minor banding but nothing that distracts from the picture

+ Despite a couple of disparaging reviews I read (before and after purchase) this TV satisfies all my expectations of it.
- Maybe a swivel base would be useful (I think newer models may now have this).
