Hoover HNL662

We purchased this washing machine to replace an Indesit model which had given up the ghost. After first reading about, checking the ratings and price etc. And learning very fast that hot and cold fill washing machines were a thing of the past, we came up with the name Hoover which fitted our purse and had the featured we required. However the model we chose was no longer available (story of my life that). And had been superceeded by the HNL662. Which had no ratings and no reviews, because it was so new. But having spent 3 days now reading up on every type of washing machine I was at the end of my tether, and took the plunge and went for it. My wife who initially approved the sale then went into a huff saying we had been hasty and reading the specification the machine did not have a half wash. Something she specifically wanted. I pointed out that this was now automatic and it adjusted the water imput to the weight of clothes. In addition it had three short programmes, which could manually be set. Unfortunately this did not placate her. The day came when the WM was due and I fitted it without any problems we did the pre-wash as instructed and then my wife started using it in earnst. The first thing we noticed was how quiet is was compared to our old machine and how well it worked. My wife fell in love with it straight away, and loves the short programmes and I have never mentioned it but, she has never mentioned the loss of a half load wash to this day. On a technical point we had to have a machine of certain dimentions to fit under our worktop and have an intigrated unit door close upon it.

Non yet. The only small point is that when we will need to clean the soap tray I will have to remove my intigrated door completly in order to get it out. But this is due to our configuration it would normally not be a problem.

Variable temperature.

You cannot vary the speed within programmes, except to make them half speed.

very good range of programs, I find the "time savers" ones very convenient if you tend to run a cycle avery day or so. there is one very energy efficient that also cleans incredibly well

Ease of use.

Dissapointed with the spin cycle in order to activate the 1600 spin speed,you have to, on completion of the wash cycle you then have to select spin cycle. otherwise if you dont do this the washing is still soaking wet. the only time the wash spins at 1600 is if you select a higher temperature wash like 60. i am dissapointed with the washing machine because of this. our last washing machine was a Hoover 1600 spin model and we didnt have to do all the above in order to have the 1600 spin speed. if i had known then what i know now i wouldnt have bought it.

Start Delay, Economy Setting & Price

Start Delay only has 3 options 3 hrs, 6hrs & 9hrs - Economy setting cycle time is long, which is why the Start Delay options could be better.

I am delighted with the overall performance and the clothes are really clean. I find even heavy soiled items get clean in low temp. wash. I use the 29 min wash and therefore don't have large bundles of washing about drying.

I must have low water pressure because a 6kg wash took about 2hrs 45m, but doing 3 x 2kg loads only takes 1hr 45mins, so I don't have a problem.

The reange of washing programmes is very good, especially short washes of 29, 44 and 59 minutes

I love the 'daily wash' cycles, the time saver option and the stain blaster option. Its lovely and quiet compared to the washing machine that I have just got rid of. That sounded like an airplane taking off in the kitchen! Being ten years old though entitled it to make loud noises!!

Can't think of any bad points, although the AA40 degree wash did take about 3 hours, but then with the time saver option you don't have to wait that long really.

Extremely long normal wash cycles and although there is special 60 degree wash which gives excellent clean results I cant find a suitable shorter 40 degree wash. The 45minute wash at 40degrees is only for lightly soiled items, so its a 3 hour job most times

The door seal leaked on its first use and it was noiser than the one we got rid of this is because the drum was not central!!!

Plenty of different cycles to use, very quiet, the machine is very well balanced so does not shake the kitchen when on, stain blaster button excellent (gets my chefs whites clean)

Great timing cycles. Using ecoballs with a touch of soap powder and am delighted with the result.

Spin cycle could be better. Clothes come out fairly wet and have to be re spun on 'spin cycle'

The time a wash takes is variable. The 'daily wash' buttons are useful,especially for small families.,the normal wash cycles take a long time.

Quite noisy.There is no variable spinspeed,but we knew that.liquid washing soap has to go straight into the drum,instead of going into the dispenser.

Very easy to use

The washing cycles are close to two hours but you can chose three options of shorter loads if you are in a hurry and the clothes are only lightly soiled.

Had two new machines, both of which had faults. The first was a fault with the belt (keep coming off during spin) and replacement machine had an electrical fault, which meant I had to have all options (slow spin, time saver & intense wash) selected in order for the machine to work. Very disappointed and now have a Zanussi.

This is a very quiet machine, noticeably so compared to our previous machine whiach was also a Hoover. Quiet spin, even at 1600 rpm.

Filter change is a bit fiddly and could be difficult for an older person, or someone who has difficulty doing a job at ankle height.

It would be useful to have a small laminated card with it so that you don't keep having to dig the booklet out to find out what all its fabulous features do. I guess I'll learn over time.
